It is hard to know what you go through, when we aren't going through this ourselves.

My Dad goes through things that are hard for me to understand. I appreciate your sharing and giving some enlightment. I would just like for you to know, that this information is very helpful, for the caregivers.

    God Bless You! Kay

Hi, Claire.  I have just turned 59, but have displaying symptoms for at least two years.  They started after I had a mini stroke.  Since then, I have had three more that I know of.  The first, though, was the worst.  I went totally blind for a short while.  I have no idea for how long.  My husband, family, and friends all scoffed off my complaints--even my doctor!  They would reply that forgetting names or dates once in awhile is normal "at my age".  I finally had a couple of MRI's which found little white dots throughout my brain which showed a cutting off of blood.  Then I was sent to a psychologist who determined I had a short term memory loss but couldn't at that time say it was alzheimers or dementia.  Finally, Social Security sent me to their own psychologist who determined it was dementia.  I fight with it every day.  I get discouraged, but get up the next day ready to do battle all over again.  I am so very thankful to be where I am today no matter what the future may hold.  Today is a new day full of promise.  And, I thank the Lord daily for all I have been given.  Many people I have heard from say that their loved ones became angry when they got their diagnosis and that anger made everything go downhill quickly.  I refuse to go down that way.  It is so much easier to look to the positive and enjoy the gifts I have been given NOW.  And, I meet great people through my posts.  I hope you will continue to write me, if you wish.  I will be happy to help you in any small way that I can.

My advice to you is to not give up.  How old are you?  Have you had any health problems?  What are your symptoms?  Who have you gone to for help?

Don't give up.  I hope you will respond back to me with answers to the above questions.

thank you so much for your reply. i am booking in with my GP asap!i have just turned 54.my health on the whole has been pretty good and i have always kept fit.

i take high blood pressure medication now and am battling with that a bit.

i think you are fabulous. you are so aware of everything.

never give up telling your story. it must be a great way too, by writing it all down, to document what is happening as you grapple to come to terms with this hideous disease.

    cheers,

    claire
