What do a cardiologist's office and a blind, noisy woman in a wheelchair have in common? No, this isn't a joke. These two unrelated things provided a most thought provoking and touching experience for me this week. Please allow me to explain... I was sitting in the cardiologist office, w...

Thank you for sharing that moment with us. It was touching and well written. How did you find out you had dementia? You write so well. Are you able to hide it? My mother-in-law was able to hide it in the early stages. She still is pretty good at hiding it since she is so bright and articulate. She will make up stories to hide the fact that she doesn't remember things. I am one of the few who can tell she made it up. She always says to me "How did you know?" and I say "ESP" and we both laugh!

    Hi, Daisiavue Big Smile

I can't fib like your mother...I have had to come out and blab it everywhere--not for sympathy, but because I feel I can help others by being forthright.  I want others to know that there are many faces to dementia and many levels.  I am highly functioning right now.  Aricept has helped greatly.  If you go to an earlier blog, Blogging To Help You and Me, you can find my story about how I knew something was wrong.  I had to go to my neurologist and two psychologists for testing to be diagnosed with the dementia.

You sound like you have a good relationship with your mother. God bless you both as you walk this path together!

I do hope you will read my previous blogs and continue to read the ones in the future.  I would love any comments you would like to make!

Thank you for remembering about Dana and Alex.  They will be in good hands.  They will need someone to talk to  when that time comes.

    Love, Leah

    Dearest Leah

    You are doing fine.

Our God is looking out for you.

I honestly believe that your illness is under control and will not progress further for many, many years to come.

I also believe that you are slated for a long, happy life--like your Dad and Bernice. [smile]

Why?  Our God knows how much we all need you and want you with us. :-)

I simply want you to know I will never forget Dana and Alex--and would love to get to know them better.  May I take a trip with you sometime to visit them?

    Love you!

I will get back to you about that.  In the meantime, my next blog should be up today.  This one and the one following will be about our family reunion.
