Handing Over the Reigns of Responsibility

By Leah, Health Guide Wednesday, October 17, 2007
What an exhausting, but rewarding, weekend! About 150 of my relatives enjoyed our 35th annual family reunion picnic. I'd like to talk about the effects dementia has had on my responsibilities working on our family reunion.  The annual family reunion requires a great deal of preparation. It w...

Dear Leah,

I thought you did an excellent job this year!  [But, then again--You ALWAYS do a GREAT job being in charge.]  The only difference I noted was that this year you seemed deep in thought a good bit--but, I attributed this to someone with a lot on their mind--someone who wanted to make certain nothing fell between the cracks.

I know you will have difficult decisions to make in the future--maybe to start with would be let Kitty take over the organizing--and you simply be EMCEE....you are a born speaker.  Of all of us first cousins--you are [without a doubt] the best speaker--the most natural and entertaining one. [smile]

I hope you do not mind--but, I sent your blog info to Sandra's family [Terry Leigh, Greg, and Jeff] and suggested they check it out and give you comments from time to time.  [smile]

Love and blessings always, Connie Leigh

I love having people read my blogs and give me feedback.  Thank you for you kind words.  I guess I appeared to be deep in thought because it was taking so much from me to handle all that was going on. I hope to hear back from terri, etc. in the future.

love ya,  Leah

Dear Leah,

So sorry you didn't make the Baden luncheon.  I hope you will come for the next one.  It is so wonderful that you are sharing your difficulties with others.  I read two of your articles and am looking forward to reading more to understand what you and other people are going through.  I can still imagine you in class and the wonderful, kind way you handled all the students. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hope to see you soon.

Love,

I hope to make the next luncheon; I need my Baden "fix".  The lmemories of laughter we all have shared over the years while teaching together are so precious to me...I can still see Susan eating someone else's lunch by accident...at least, I think that's how it happened.  God bless you, Sharon.  You and Lee are often in my thoughts.  Would you please say a prayer for my eleven year old nephew who is dying of DIPG, an inoperable childhood brain tumor?  I am just so sure that your message will get to God and to those three adorable angels who are with him.  Please pray that Brogan can find peace in the arms of our Lord.
