Leah, you’re still a teacher and always will be. Your posts are so enlightening.
We are told to live in the moment because, especially in our culture, we are seemingly trying to relive the past or else we are worried about the future. Meanwhile, the moment slips by. Since our lives are a series of moments, we often fail to appreciate what we have in the now.
However, as you say, you don't have a choice. Those of us fortunate enough to still have a choice had better appreciate it. We can live in the moment when that is best, but we can still remember what happened ten minutes ago or a year ago. We can take all of our experiences and make choices. You've been robbed of that choice.
Your posts are all lessons in grace and intelligence. Thank you so much for this wonderful addition.

We all tend to take for granted that what we have will always be here...that just isn't the way. One must be ready for change and be able to roll with the punches. I'm rolling...sometimes it's hard. But one must expect life to be difficult, from time to time, so that we can truly appreciate the good times!
