A BIG THANK YOU and a couple questions

Having read Connie's post, I realized I hadn't thanked everybody who quickly posted replies to my questions. They were a big help.

An update on my mother - she is installed in the house we built for her next door. She has been in it for 2 months and still has not adjusted. Some days she doesn't remember how to turn on the TV, some days she can't make coffee for herself. We have started taking an art class together so I am hoping I can continue to get her out of the house. She has no interest in meeting new people - she is still pining for her condo and her boyfriend, which is understandable. She has been very independent and is now very dependent and she hates it. She is not nasty like she was when she got here, so that is a blessing.

A question - she gets anxious at night. I have a baby monitor set up so I can hear her but last night I forgot to turn it up when I went to sleep. She got very angry in the nighttime because her sister-in-law had invited her boyfriend to dinner, just as a nice gesture, but mom didn't see it that way and pitched a fit, so she called her boyfriend about 3:00 AM, she said. Their relationship is not going anywhere since he is in Florida and she is in Texas - he has a lot of family dysfunction as well and is quite a bit younger than my mother. Should I try something for sleep for her? She takes a small dose of Xanax at night and her citalopram as well as her Aricept and Namenda. The calming effect doesn't seem to last very long for her anxiety.

Any suggestions (and thanks again so much)?

Deb
