One day at a time

By DaugterInLaw Wednesday, August 26, 2009

We are taking it day by day here. I and my husband have now saved her from cocking to death. Mobility is less and less each day and she has put on major weight so this is part of what makes it hard for her to get up after she sits down. My husband works so much thank God for Shirley (our caretaker) she keeps us more positive. I loose it when she pees on everything. It takes all day to clean up and even the landlord has commented on our water / laundry use. We are taking it day by day now. I got two tickets trying to park at a very shabbily marked physical therapy place and got two parking tickets so that was a bad day this week. I am trying my best but sometimes my best is just keeping her from smelling horrible and making it through the long days when she is content to sit sedentary, watch TV and let her depends fall to her ankles. I am so afraid she will trip and hit her head on the glass table. I am terrified that I will feel guilty forever for it when or if something bad happens on our watch. Believe it or not we have run into a lot or discrimination against FTD people in our hunt for a home. I would now call taking care or her and official two person job. We stopped adult day care after she peed in the founder's car while getting a ride home.

Another bad day

This is definitely a two person job. I hope you can get some kind of help. If you go to your state's Web site and look for aging services, they may be able to point you to some respite care. Some is Federally funded and not income based. You should qualify, but it's different everywhere.

We're thinking of you. This is one tough situation.

Carol
