My husband diagnosed with early Alzheimer's 3 1/2 years ago. He was 55 years old. We have been through 2 years of research at Duke University. Apparently early Alzheimer's progresses faster than older people being diagnosed. We are presently in stage 6 and things are getting harder. I am sole caregiver for my husband but 3 weeks ago started taking him to Alzheimer's daycare 2 days a week for 6 hours a day. It gives me a much needed break and a chance to do the things I need to without him. Groceries, appt. for me etc. To take him to the store more than doubles my time there as he is so slow. Days we stay home he sleeps most of the day way because he can't do the things he used to. He just likes to stay home. Winter has been hard. Hopefully I can get him out more this spring.
