heredity

My mother was diagnosed with alzhiemers at the age of 56. It progressed very fast , all the doctors say its not hereditery . But I'm not convinced doesn't it have to start somewhere? Everytime I forget something I worry . I'm I overreacting ? Or are the doctors just saying it to make me feel better even though there not?
