Coping with Emotional Changes

At a Glance

Dealing with behavioral, mood and emotional changes of your loved one suffering from Alzheimer's disease can be unsettling and alarming to family and caregivers. However, it's important to remember that the mood swings are typically linked to confusion in a situation, being overwhelmed or a medical problem, such as a urinary tract infection. Remember to stay calm, speak slowly and and be patient. The mood swings are a result of the disease rather than a personal attack.
