What is Alzheimer's Disease?

At a Glance

Alzheimer's is a degenerative disease of the brain for which there is no cure. The disease slowly attacks the nerve cells of the brain, causing the patient to slowly lose their memory, ability to govern emotions, recognize errors and patterns and coordinate movements.  Eventually, a person will Alzheimer's will lose all memory and mental function.
