Q: Alzeimer's & Dementia in older people are the same? There's no cure & both have the same result?

My father was just diagnosed with the beginning stages of dementia.  He is forgetful; shuffles when he walks; is always very tired; has a very short attention span and has become a horrible driver.

Hi Sara K

Do you know the type of dementia your father has?

There are many different types of dementia, some of which are reversible to a certain extent. Alzheimer's disease is just one type. Signs, symptoms, treatments and prognosis differ according to the type. (Sorry there is no simple answer)

Here is a link about the Difference between Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. There are also a series of shareposts about the different types of dementia. Lots of reading!
