Hi, Candi,   I agree with Carol. I'd also suggest that a person who has Alzheimer's can have other medical issues. In my mother's case, she had Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) from smoking for way too many years. Her limited lung capacity made her Alzheimer's worse. The combination of Alzheimer's and lung disease caused her to have difficulty swallowing, which meant she had to move to eating a thickened diet. And it was her lungs (and not Alzheimer's) that ultimately caused her death (due to a respiratory infection).   Take care and keep us posted!   Dorian
