who can I talk to about mom's dementia
I think I need some one to talk to. I love her dearly. And maybe its my fault that she does not want to do any thing and more. I don't know how to stop her from wetting herself. She used to go to the bathroom but now she sits and wets herself in her chair. I bought her pads to help her out but she will not wear them. I can't make her put them on. Where can I go for some help?
This is not your fault. Please contact the Alzheimer's organization in your phone book for guidance. If they can't help you, contact social services in your county. You need help and guidance with your mom.

You may want to contact the home health service or home care service so the nurses or professional caregivers can come to your place and help your Mom. They can persuade her to wear the "underwear" that is actually adult diapers. But don't tell her it is diaper. The pad is not enough to prevent the leakage.
It is not your fault that she does nothing. This is part of dementia. She is confused and she fails to understand the need to daily care and so she is acting like a 3 year-old child needing help and resist it because she is not a child really.
Lots of info. about caring for a dementia patient in the web site. But home health care people can come to your place sometime and help her out for bathing and etc.
Medicare should cover that.
Take care,
Nina

Hi, Need Help,
First of all, please don't place the blame on yourself. Much if not all of what you are describing is due to your mom's dementia. I agree with the previous suggestions. You also may want to check in your area for a caregiver support group. I know that in my area, there are several to choose from. You can find this group through by contacting the local Department on Aging. If they can't help you, nursing homes or churches also often have this information which they will share with you.
Take care and keep us posted!
