That depends on their overall health and any medications they are taking, but I would think a yearly checkup would be a minimum, even for a healthy elder. "Elderly" can also mean different things to different people. Some people consider elderly to be 60 and others 80. So, age makes a difference. But most of all, general health is what matters. That and medication. All aging adults should see a doctor regularly enough so that they have a health history and a physician if they should run into a health problem.

I feel that an older person should keep in touch with her physician if she/he needs to.
Of coarse a yearly visit for a physical is necessary. If the person is taking meds on a regular basis, I believe that every couple of months or so the Dr. should be informed on how well the medication is addressing problem.
Some elderly are not mobil, there are physicians that do make home visits for check-ups, shots etc. You can usually locate one through your Senoir Services in your town.
My Mom has not seen her Dr. in 4 years, but I keep in touch with her on a regular basis just to let her know how she is doing and how the meds are.
