Hi Patricia,

You seem to have a good handle on this. Why put her in with people who are worse off than she is, if she's "isn't there, yet.? Is it possible to find a place where she can take steps up in care, as she needs to? We have assisted living and nursing homes here (your mother sounds  like a candidate for assisted living to me) where they have memory units, so if/when she gets so she needs one, she'd stay in the same center, and just change rooms. That wouldn't be as hard a move for her as changing centers, as she'd see many of the same people.

Families can make things difficult. Most people mean well, but agreement is hard to come by. Some people find themselves wishing they were "an only child."

Good luck making your point. It doesn't sound like she's ready for a memory unit yet, but discussing it with her doctor is a good idea. Maybe you'd get some back-up there.

Blessings,

Carol
