...the tingling has been in the side of my finger(which I used to lay over my mouth in the "hmmm" hand-to-chin gesture). The tingling has never resulted in a sore, but it is almost random in its severity. It goes from a tiny "zzzt!" feeling once in the course of the day, to that weird throbbing feeling you get with normal coldsores near your mouth. On days when I can get enough lysine or valtrex into me, it is limited or even goes away for a few weeks.

My question pertains to Alzheimer's disease and herpes. WHat exactly is the link, and is this relatively new in life pattern some sign I am doomed to get AD? I had oen cold sore once when I was  ten years old, then I went through a messy breakup and the coldsore tingling shifted from my lip to my hand and has stayed there, though Ihave not had  an actual breakout since I don't know when.

It has been found that IF you have a particular genetic type AND you also have cold sores then you are at a higher risk of developing AD.  Most people do have cold sores.  Most people do not have the genetic type that puts them at risk.  It is therefore unlikely that you are at greater risk of developing AD.

Since there is NOTHING you can do to change any risk, there is no point in worrying about it!
