Never were we told at the beginning that after 4 weeks the dosage should be increased. Now we have tried to increase it, but the result is extreme nausea. Also, it seems that the doctor mentioned that at some point any dosage of reminyl becomes ineffective, as the disease progresses....I can't seem to get any information on this. Thank-you.

Q: My mother is on reminyl, and has been for about 5 years.

There is information about Reminyl on this site. It goes under the name of Galantamine (Razadyne). The name reminyl was changed to razadyne a few years ago following the deaths of two people who died after mistakenly being given a diabetes medication glimepiride (Amaryl) instead of the Alzheimer's medication galantamine (Reminyl). The drug company has decided to change the name in July 2005.
Here is a link to more information on this site in which it talks about the limitation of this type of drug and the need to evaluate its effectiveness with individual patients. It could be that the drug needs to be discontinued. Here is a link to more information about reminyl now known as razadyne.

I should add that you do need to see a doctor who can give you more advice on what to do in your mother's case
