Hi dd, the website has lots of info. on vascular dementia. You can just search for it. Basically the dementia part is just like Alzheimers; taking aricept, namenda or exelon may help. For the blood vessels, taking drugs that make the blood thinner or taking the drugs to lower cholesterol or blood pressure is helpful. However taking these drugs need careful monitoring by the doctors to make sure the drugs are properly used. Sometimes the blood thinner cannot be taken for too long (my father-in-law can no longer take blood thinner at the age of 88.) My mother had mini-stroke and she is almost at the edge of dementia but not yet. There are 2 issues for vascular dementia: the memory and the blood vessels.
Hope this helps,
Nina
