Are there any studies being done to see if some cases of Alzheimers could be linked to Vietnam Vet
My husband is retired army pilot. He has had multiple medical issues,heat disease,loss of circulation to lower extremeties that caused the loss of both legs,COPD and congestive heart failure. He flew a cobra gun ship in Vietnam and flew cover fire for planes spraying agent orange. He is rated 100% disabled through VA because of this,they won't actually say that caused this but he does not have family history of any of these ailments. His disibility was deteremined because we found in medical records this started while in service after his deployment to Vietnam. What is our government doing to study the effects and the exposure to spouses through body fluids. Spouses and children born to these soldiers are developing these same problems. Unless it is cancer right now they won't admit to it. Who is going to start talking about these effects and HELP?
Connie, I don't know of any studies, but you are making a very valid point. My brother was in Vietnam. When I was researching one of my newspaper columns, I visited local Veteran's advocates. I was given a "footprint" (a drawing of a foot to resemble Vietnam Vets having set foot in Vietnam), and this mentioned many health issues these people are facing. That was a couple of years ago, and I don't remember Alzheimer's as being one of them (I sent it to my brother). However, I will keep your question in mind. It's really set off alarms in my brain.
I'll check with some VA people and see if they know anything. Meanwhile, let's keep our eyes open for a study. You could be on to something. Please share any information you get. And thanks so much for joining us.

AND YOU KNOW NOBODY IS GOING TO BE MEAN TO HIM AND HE DON'T HAVE TO LAY IN HIS OWN WASTE FOR HOURS UNTIL SOMEONE CLEANS HIM, I WORKED IN A NURSING HOME, I WOULD NEVER PUT ANYONE THERE, HAVE YOU TRIED THE NATURAL THINGS OR ARE YOU JUST STICKING WITH THE DRUG PUSHERS. I HAVE A MENTIAL DECLINE BECAUSE I HAVE DIABETES, I CAN TELL THE DIFFERANCE WHEN I HAVE THE THINGS I SHOULD BE TAKING AND WHEN I DON'T.ALSO HAD A MINOR STROKE, CAN'T WORK THANK GOD, IT WASN'T A MAJOE ONE, THAT ALSO TAKES A TOLL ON MENTAL ABLITIES. THANH GOD, MY HUSBAND DIDN'T LEAVE ME, THAT WAS 10 YERS. AGO I TAKE FISH OIL PILLS NOW SO THAT THERES NOT ANOTHER ONE.
