Hi, Debra,

I know how difficult this waiting period is for you. What you are describing potentially could be the last stages (but then again, it could be part of the process of healing). In my mom's case, she had been hospitalized for about five days due to having caught a bug that was going around the nursing home. When she was released, she was alert for a couple of days, but then began to sleep almost all of the next week and rarely was willing or able to get up to eat. I believe this was part of a process of her body shutting down.  Therefore, I'd suggest contacting your mother's doctor and describe what is happening.

Take care and keep us posted!

Dorian
