Clonazepam is often used for anxiety, so it could be helpful. People with AD often have a difficult time figuring out what is happening and this causes anxiety. Clonazepam is a very old drug and is also used for OCD, which is a disease with a lot of anxiety attached. So, yes, it does make sense. If the doctor wants her to try it, it sounds like an informed suggestion.
