Q: what is the medical treatment of teeth grinding / bruxism when it occurs as a part of dementia / parkinsonism in a 78 yr old man with otherwise no medical ailment?

That's a good question and I don't have an answer for you. I'd suggest that you get recommendations from the man's doctor in consultation with a dentist.
