  Hi Debbie   You have a complex problem that it is very difficult to advise you on. You do not provide much information about how confused the person is. When someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease they can still make informed choices, sometimes for a long time. Is your ‘friend' depressed about the diagnosis? Do you believe it is the level of confusion that is leading to the behavior?   I think it would be very helpful and important for him/her to go see a doctor for a full evaluation, which will in turn dictate how you can best help them.   People need help coping with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.   Christine
