Contacting hospice is very good advice. It doesn't mean death is at the door. But they will counsel you, advise you and keep your husband comfortable without "heroic" measures. As you say, everyone is different, and even the best doctors are sometimes outwitted by the person they are taking care of. Some people just suddenly die, while others go on for a long time. Hospice will help you with the transition. I'd give them a call very soon. They are truly wonderful.    Carol
