I am not a doctor. But I can tell you what I found in the internet. In 2002, aricept was considered effective for Vascular dementia which is due to mini stroke. But in 2006, aricept caused some deaths in a trial for vascular dementia. In 2008, some researchers found that aricept does not seem to help when it comes to a specific form of vascular dementia. You can just google search vascular dementia and aricept.   The other good news is the drug statin which lowers choloesterol seems to help preventing or slow down vascular dementia. But these are all preliminary studies.   So if I were you, I would not use aricept for vascular dementia.   Regards, Nina
