Q: The national Alzheimers's Association helpline is 24/7 help?

I was completely insulted and treated like a riduculous burden by the national Altheimers's Associations 24/7 hotline today. I will never call for support there again they have been as useless as our lawyer (recommened by them), some family members, hospitals, referral services and I am so disappointed in .... everyone today. How can there be such little useful help for this? No one wants to deal with dementia and what it does to families. They do not live it, understand or really care and are lucky to even have a job or the freedom to go to one. Oh I have a job supporting people but 12 lines ae flashing i.e. your life is low on my list of priorities. Unexceptable. period. Crisis support - I think not.

I am very sorry about this. Our local Alzheimer's Association is very helpful, that much I know. I haven't had any experience with the national hotline, but I think your input is valuable and they can learn from it. Please contact the organization and tell them about your experience. They need more people, better training or something. You shouldn't be left hanging like that.
