Concerned about my Mom
Can the drug (Aricept) through a blood test be found. I was told No, but do not know the reason why. Bloodwork always shows up what the person has taken.
Loving My Mom!!
Gee! I have not thought about this. I know that when my father-in-law got overdose over caumadin, they could tell from the blood test that it was too much so they cleaned it with Vitamin K and etc.
I can see that you are concerned that your Mom is not taking aricept. Is she in the nursing home? If she is at home with you, you can make sure that someone is there with her to help her with the medication so make sure she is taking it.
Usually you can tell by how they behave after taking the drug. My father-in-law could not take aricept because he would stop eating so he is taking namenda and exelon. We can tell right after he took the drugs, he became more alert. The first time he took aricept, he felt his perception was changed and got better.
Hope this helps. I would not rely on blood test just to see if she takes it or not. Blood test takes too long. A blood test is good to see if she is sick and etc.
I also think if it takes too long after the drug, the blood test would not show. Just my guess.

Nina
