Concerned about my Mom
Can the drug (Aricept) through a blood test be found. I was told No, but do not know the reason why. Bloodwork always shows up what the person has taken.
Loving My Mom!!
I would think so, but I'm not a medical person. Hopefully, one of our medical people will pitch in here with an answer. It's possible they could only find certain components, and it may depend on when she took it. It could also take a special test, which may or may not be available.
Anyway, I wanted you to know that you aren't alone. Someone with more medical background will chime in here with more information. I'm interested to see what they say.

Thanks for your question Mary. You may want to review the information from our drug library on Aricept:
Donepezil is used to treat mild to moderate confusion (dementia) related to Alzheimer's disease. It does not cure Alzheimer's disease, but it may improve memory, awareness, and the ability to function. This medication is an enzyme blocker that works by restoring the balance of natural substances (neurotransmitters) in the brain.
Hope this helps and all the best, sue (moderator)
