Hi, Daughter In Law,

I'm so sorry about your situation. In my experience with my mom (who had very bad lungs), I found that she struggled on until a pneumonia-type disease went around the nursing home and she caught it and succumbed. Based on that, I'd suggest that you ask the loved one's doctor what to expect. Also, you may want to get Hospice involved; they may provide some good guidance as well as support.

Take care and keep us posted!

Dorian
