Home care nurse has dementia
Our home care nurse for sure has early dementia. It is a long story. She felt sick 6 years ago due to an accident and took namenda and the like; then she recovered. After that she has stopped being the hospital nurse and instead, she and her hubby have started this home care co. When we hired this co. we didn't know her at all and didn't realize her problem. Later on, the caregivers who work for them found some payroll problem with her. This year my caregiver found something new. Their boss - the nurse has dementia!! So instead of going to her, when they go to the hubby, the president of the firm, the payroll problem disappeared! Maybe he also shaped up but this shows that this nurse has some problem. That is why she talks for a long time with repetition and is quite moody.
We are thinking to find a nursing home next year since this home care is expensive anyway....
I wonder if this is bad for my FIL...

I'd certainly keep an eye on this, Nina. If she is still taking good care of your FIL, things may be okay, since you are going to make a change soon, anyway. But if the nurse's dementia progresses, she may not be qualified to care for him. She could mix up hes medications, or forget to help him in some way. This calls for close supervision.

Hi, Nina,
I totally agree with Carol. I would worry about the medications being given at the proper time and the proper dosage. Have you brought your concerns to the husband? You might want to do so at some point.
Take care!
