HiWhether it is right, in a patient's best interest, to have a feeding tube inserted is a fraught issue. His doctor can help advise you and your husband about the right and sensible way to proceed, but when a loved one is involved it is so difficult. At the moment it sounds as though you do not have to make make that call but it is good to think about the future. Dorian wrote a great sharepost about making their decision for about a feeding tube for her mother, who had Alzheimer's,  that may help you.For most people there seems to be no right or wrong decision. The major dilemma is that not to fit one means they die. It is about having the power of life or death. Carol makes some very good points in her answer. If their quality of life is so poor, or if they are in pain, they can no longer be made comfortable it will help you decide. All my best wishesChristine
