My cousin has been diagnosed with after an oral cognitive test with a psychiatrist. Surely more tests need to be completed.

My FIL had 3 hours oral cognition tests and writing tests (e.g., drawing a clock) and he was diagnosed with "early" Alzheimer's in late 2006. He was actually more serious than was tested. It is not very accurate about staging as the questions are tricky. But for Alzheimer's, it is accurate as there are standards to follow. The only way to do it these days is through the behaviors tests. There is some test using some compound to look into the brain using ct-scan, but this is in trial and is not available yet. Anyway, as times goes on, my FIL indeed has severe Alzheimer's.
