Researchers say there appears to be a link between hearing loss and dementia, but the link remains a mystery. A study of 639 participants between the ages of 36 and 90 found that those with hearing loss at the start of the study were more likely to be diagnosed with dementia--including Alzheimer's--later. Researchers say they don't know if hearing loss is an early sign of dementia, or if it increases the risk of cognitive decline.
