Dementia often missed as cause of death

Many health officials fail to cite dementia as a cause of death, a new study has found. Researchers examined the medical records and death certificates of 165 patients with advanced dementia who died while in a nursing home and found that just 16 percent of the death certificates listed dementia as the main cause of death.
