A recent study has found that Enbrel (etanercept) is safe for use by patients for up to 2.5 years. Patients in the study who had psoriasis were able to take the medication for 48 weeks without suffering any more adverse side effects than those taking a placebo. Enbrel works by affecting a protein that plays an important role in inflammatory conditions like psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
