Anti-Alzheimer's enzyme hastens rare dementia

An enzyme called Pin1 appears to suppress Alzheimer's disease, but it may also speed the development of another rarer type of dementia, experts say. The mice study is significant because previously scientists used the rarer, hereditary form of dementia to study the way that Alzheimer's works. This new evidence suggests that the Pin1 enzyme may hold a treatment key for Alzheimer's, but that researchers should not test the new treatments on all patients. Read more »
