People's airbag may prevent fall injuries

A Japanese company has developed an airbag system that people who are prone to falls can wear to help them prevent injury. The device is strapped around the body and is designed to detect if the body is accelerating toward the ground. If a person falls, the airbags will inflate in 0.1 seconds and cushion the head and hips from impact. While the device's makers say it is particularly aimed at people with epilepsy, they say it would also be useful for elderly people who are prone to injuries from falls.
