Fast food linked to Alzheimer's disease
Can fast food cause Alzheimer’s disease? A new study suggests that there may be a link. Swedish researchers fed lab mice a diet of fast food for nine months. Over time the mice developed tau protein brain tangles that researchers say mimic the kind found in the brain of Alzheimer’s patients. Researchers say that fast food’s mixture of high sugar, high fat, high cholesterol ingredients may cause chemical changes in the brain which could lead to Alzheimer’s in people who are genetically susceptible.
