Caregivers urged to watch seniors during extreme heat

Experts are urging caregivers and the elderly to be particularly careful about managing their health during the summer months. Extreme high temperatures can quickly dehydrate people especially if they are already in fragile health. Health experts say it's important to avoid being outdoors during the hottest part of the day, between 2 and 7 p.m., and even more important for caregivers to make sure that seniors have access to cooling devices such as fans and air conditioners in order to avoid heat-stroke and other potentially fatal health problems.
