Even a small infection could speed Alzheimer's

Common infections in the chest, stomach, and urinary tract may double the speed of memory decline, a new study has found. Researchers say the study of 222 Alzheimer's patients suggests that even small infections should be taken seriously, because the worse infections caused the fastest rate of memory loss. The link, experts say, is that infections cause acute systemic inflammation and higher levels of TNF protein in the blood.   Read full story >
