Money problems may signal dementia

A sudden problem keeping track of financial matters may signal Alzheimer's disease, a new study suggests. Researchers in Alabama found that people who were within a year of their Alzheimer's diagnosis also experienced a six to nine percent decline in their ability to read bank statements, balance their checkbook, pay bills, and count money. Experts say caretakers and doctors should be aware that money problems may foreshadow a move from mild cognitive impairment to Alzheimer's disease.
