House passes healthcare reform bill

(New York Times) UPDATED 2009-11-07

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a landmark healthcare reform after a 14-hour day of debate. The measure passed with just two votes more than the required 218, with only one Republican backing it along with 219 Democrats. The bill will now move to the U.S. Senate, where it is expected to face stiff opposition.
