What to expect for Medicare Part D open enrollment

Major changes are in store for seniors who enroll in private, standalone Medicare prescription drugs plans (PDP) this year, experts say. An analysis by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation has found that monthly premiums will rise an average 11 percent (to $38.94), though the premium changes vary widely by which plan seniors select. Many plans are also upping deductibles and offering little "gap" coverage. Experts say it's important for consumers to look not just at the monthly premium, but also at what is covered under it as they make their choice.  Read full story >
