Senate Passes Health Care Reform Bill

After more than three weeks of debate and compromise, Senate Democrats secured enough votes to pass a sweeping bill aimed at reforming the U.S. health system. The measure is designed to expand coverage to millions of Americans and bar insurance companies' ability to drop coverage for ill patients or deny coverage because of patients' pre-existing conditions. If eventually made into law, the Senate's bill would cost $871 billion over a decade.  Read full story >
