Some Orange Juice as Good a Source of Vitamin D as Supplements

Results from a new study suggest that drinking orange juice that is fortified with vitamin D can be as effective at boosting the body's levels of this nutrient as vitamin D supplements. Scientists have long known that simply adding vitamins or minerals to a food does not guarantee that the body will be able to absorb it in that form. But researchers in the new study found that vitamin D added to orange juice helps the body's levels of this disease-fighting nutrient rise as much as it does in people given a vitamin D capsule.
