Herbal Supplements Often Contain Contaminants

Many herbal dietary supplements studied in a recent Congressional investigation contained lead, arsenic, and other contaminants, investigators say. While the levels of heavy metals were not considered harmful, they do exceed the legal limit. The investigation into these common products also found that 9 products illegally claimed to cure diseases from cancer and high blood pressure to Alzheimer's.
