I have heard of this technique but I have never talked to anyone who has actually used it. It does sound very interesting. I will have to check out your links.
If the mind has the capability to make you feel anxious...it has the capacity to also make you feel calm and peaceful.

There is an interesting concept that the mind does not know the difference between "real" and "made up" images. If you continue to fill your mind with images of how you want something to be, then it will come to believe that it is true. That also goes for when we worry, when we fill our mind with images of us failing, etc, then that is what we believe to be true.
I do try very hard to be conscious of what types of images I fill my head with.
Try this for a few days. Imagine something small, such as enjoying something that you don't really enjoy (maybe vaccuming the house unless of course you already enjoy vaccuuming.) Create a picture of you vaccuuming and singing, vaccuuming and smiling, think of how much it is an enjoyable part of your day. Then, a few days from now, after you have created this image, vaccuum and see how you feel.
