I am a civil engineer who had come to U.S.A in june 2008. I am here till march 2009.
Recently i had this sleep problem started. I could not sleep for 3 days and i started feeling a bit anxious. i went to a doctor who gave prescribed me alprazolum (0.5 mg daily) but slowly this problem intensified. now recently i startde having severe chest pains on the left side. Once it was so severe that i fainted in the office itself.
I have a strong feeling that as soon as i enter India-my home country i will be absolutely fine as i am missing my parents badly especially after suffering from this episode. But still 2 months are left and its really tough for me to even imagine that i will i continue here for 2 months.
Now i am having alprazolum (2 mg/daily 0.5mg 4 times) daily. But still i dont get 100% perfect. Is my thinkin right that i will be perfect as soon as i go back home to my parents.
Also please tell me how to deal with these chest pains.
Please help.

Unfortunately, I am not able to tell you all will be fine when you return home. There is no way for me to know whether your chest pains are caused by anxiety, by homesickness or because of some other health condition. Since you have been prescribed medication, I am assuming you have talked with a doctor about the chest pains. Has the doctor run any tests? Does the doctor believe your chest pains are caused by anxiety or something else?
Please keep in touch with your doctor and let him or her know the pains are continuing so you can determine the cause of the pain.
Please keep us posted and let us know what is going on.

It's not unusual for stress or anxiety to lead to chest pain and panic attacks. I gather that is why that prescription was given to you. There are a lot of good online resources for managing anxiety, such as:

I hope these help!
