Great article MM. I normally don't remember my dreams. I think that my sleep is interupted so much ( I wake every 30 minutes or so), that I don't dream. But,...on several occasions, my younger brother and I have both dreamed of a White Spider crawling around in our beds and we wake up paniced and searching in the covers for this White Spider. This has occured a few times and it has occured in our adult years. Strange.
I do beleive that dreams are our mind sorting thru things, bringing up things for us to fix, correct or ponder. Our mind if a very powerful thing.
I rarely remember my dreams, sometimes when awake I'll have a vague recollection of some aspect but not enough to make any sense. The exception is when I've been woken up startled from a night mare. Those have include being chased, so I found this article well worth reading. Many thanks Merely (if I can be so bold to use your first name) I feel better informed now.

I think dreams are where we live. Our fears, desires and needs, where we visit where we've been and where we never have been; do things we never have done, when awake. We avoid our fears in real life as much as possible, I mean, if we fear or are repulsed by cock roaches we don't go into a room full of them; in our dreams we can and do. Whether we like it or not.
We experience things and feelings in our dreams. People, places, past, present and future.
I can honestly say I've never had one of these dreams, that I remember. I recall nightmares, a few but none of these, although some these sound like nightmares! I'm sure I have dreams just not these and I can't recall them now. Although, I do remember being chased when I was young. And the fear of heights thing rose it's ugly head occasionally.
Never explored the meaning of dreams, which you seemed to have done in detail. I just thought they were enjoyment by our mind while we slept. Something for it to do until we awoke. To entertain, heal, expose, enlighten, condemn, foretell, or just drive us crazy.
