I found your post most interesting thank you for sharing this, it is true that when we or I write down emotions on paper it becomes palpable, this is a exercise that everybody should do I remember in therapy how I wrote every single day after the evening group therapy's and the good it gave me, writing down my day, feelings or anything that would be of matter to me it gave me a sense of accomplishment for lack of a better word.
At first when I read myself back it was somewhat confusing asking myself why did I write this or that but as I kept on writing I could express on paper feelings or emotions in a way that came in a different light and was most therapeutic to me.
So Thanks again Jerry

Hi Suffolk,
Thanks for your comments. It's clear that your own experiences with writing have been positive. From my own experience I know that some people struggle with writing as a medium of expression but for those who try - well I've yet to come across anyone who doesn't see some good in it. I think it's a shame that more therapists don't encourage it beyond the 'behavioral diary'. I don't think the research suggests that it's any better than talking, for example, but it's certainly a useful addition - or in some instances an alternative - depending on the circumstances.
